Will SOMEBODY PLEASE take some pictures of the salad bar and post them, so vegetarians can see whether they wish to venture in?

    PLEASE!

After a few more visits, service has improved quite a bit.  They seem to have worked out a lot of the kinks in their process, and brought on some more experienced servers.

What they have developed is one of the best happy hour specials on the Island:  every Tuesday afternoon they feature "Bones and Beers" with $1 individual St. Louis Ribs and $1 draft beers.    It's quite popular so get there early!

As this and the neighboring restaurant have grown in popularity, parking has been an issue at peak times.

We've been dying to go to Captain Jack's since we knew it was opening! We decided to wait until the hype settled some before going since it was always packed.

Finally got to go tonight! I was a little nervous because I have seen mixed reviews... But it was for nothing at all!

It wasn't crowded and we were able to get a nice seat outside. We ordered the sampler appetizer and got the pretzel, Frickle Spears, and the bacon wrapped meatball (I can't remember the name on the menu). Hands down the best fried pickles we've ever had! The spears were new to us, we have only seen them in slices. They were to die for.
The pretzel and meatball were both very good too.

I got the pork sliders and they were so good! It comes with fried onions, but I added some of my Cole slaw and BBQ sauce and it was amazing. My husband got the chicken wrap and he really liked it, but I think he wishes he had gotten the pork too because he helped eat mine haha
The kids got the Mac and cheese, hamburgers, and kids slider. They all really enjoyed their food and for kids platters they were a good size so they even had some to bring home!

Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name or I'd mention her specifically! If it helps any: she served a family of 7 on 8/6/19. We appreciated the patience she had while trying to figure out what our kids wanted.

The only "negative" to our visit was the red slaw. It wasn't BAD at all but my husband is from Lexington (where it originated) and he was so looking forward to having it but he said that while it was good, it wasn't like home. I personally have never had it so I can't confirm or deny his thoughts. But again he said it's GOOD, it just missed the mark a little.

All in all, 5 out of 5 stars and we will definitely be back!

Our first attempt to check this place out was Father's Day, but was closed for dinner - which was something weird.

The second attempt and first time eating in, we weren't greeted by the host who was nowhere around, and when she came back, saw the new crowd of people waiting but didn't make any contact with any of them (including myself until I finally went up to ask to be checked in).

When we finally sat to order, I got the brisket - which was not like any brisket I've ever had - and not in a good way. It seems like it's a processed brisket - almost looks like bologna. It's not something I would order again or recommend.

The only saving grace I thought was the service, and the sides (which is the only reason it's not a 1-star).

Had a great experience at captain jacks last evening! Checked this place out with my dad and brother. We were seated in the bar area so service was a little slower because he had the bar tables to care for, the patio, and the restaurant drinks - felt bad for the guy; but we weren't in rush so it wasn't a big deal for us. Our servers names I believe was Shane - he was very personable, friendly, and accommodating. He was apologetic for any delays. Since we had never been and wanted to try so many things  (and Ofcourse we were hungry) our server had great suggestions for us. For appetizers we got the captains platter where you get to pick 3 apps from their menu (not like many places where it's limited what you can pick on those platters), which was awesome - we had burnt ends, fried Mac and cheese bites, and the bbq pork rinds with pimento cheese! These were all DELICIOUS!!! The fried Mac and cheese bites made with Gouda were the best I've ever had. For dinner we ordered a captains platter with 2 rib portions and two pulled pork portions and for the 4 sides we did Mac and cheese, French fries, baked beans, and potato salad all of which were amazing. The potato salad is one of the best I've had. For drinks I had a blue swine which was basically a blueberry Moscow mule loaded with muddle blueberries and mint which was so refreshing and delicious and my brother had the captain jack which was a twist on the traditional captain and coke, also good if you like that sort of drink. Last but not least their sauces - YUM! They have 4 kinds at the table which the server goes over with you but then he also brought me their spicy one and their Alabama white one, which I loved. Will definitely be back there and enjoyed every minute. Thank you for a great meal!!
